In an inspiring interview, Adithya Narayan R Nair – Young Scientist Award winner and now in Class 12 at Indian Learners Academy, gives insights into his innovative project, “Agrobot,” and his inspiring journey towards science. Right through his childhood, Adithya’s curiosity about robotics kept him glued to his interests. He developed an educational app way back in the eighth standard that received a lot of accolades. He is passionate about Physics and even elaborates that it serves as the foundation on which he builds an understanding relating to mechanical concepts in his inventions.
Agrobot is Adithya’s creative solution to pressing concerns in agriculture, such as climate change and shortage of labor, especially in India. This multi-purpose robot offers a unique feature of being able to operate from remote locations to carry out essential tasks such as seeding, weeding, and irrigation. The invention shall redefine the efficiency and accessibility of agriculture.
The award of Young Scientist has motivated him much to reach even further heights in his endeavors. Deep gratitude is due to his mentor, Mrs. Anush, without whose help in the research, development, and presentation phases of the project he could not have managed.
The entire process has been highly enlightening for Adithya, not only in understanding robotics but also in sharpening his problem-solving skills.
Taking inspiration from agricultural pioneer M.S. Swaminathan, Adithya has set his heart on becoming a robotics engineer in agricultural research. It was fascinating to hear from him that plants do communicate and respond to new agricultural practices-a laugh for the newer researches. Adithya exhorts the other students to adhere to science as science is a world with infinite possibilities to Explore and Learn. His story is a testament to how young innovation can change the world.
