In today’s world we mostly associate innovation with adults. But, nowadays young minds are also quietly shaping the future in their own creative and unique manner. Liam Spence is one of those bright kids. He is a six-year old student of Rise Academy who was in headlines recently as he won Young Scientist Award.
GEMA Education had a wonderful opportunity to have a meet with Liam to know about his journey, his project, and his dreams which he carries in his heart.
A Warm Hello to Liam
As Liam truly got joined in the chat with his bright and enthusiastic voice, our conversation started with cheerful greetings. He answered, ”I’m fine” when asked that how was he doing, which radiated essence of his innocence and joy of childhood.
When we congratulated Liam for his achievement, he accepted it in a really very well-mannered way. In his introduction, Liam shared,” My name is Liam Spence, and I am six years old. I study at Rise Academy.”
Discovering a Love for Science
We were very curious to know how a young little student like Liam discovered his interest in science, so we asked him when it all began. By his answer, it was clear that his learning journey had an ignition of curiosity from a very early stage. His answer was:- “When I started at Red Academy, I did science”.
We also asked Liam about his favorite science topic. “My shoe project” Liam eagerly mentioned. We did not knew much but could predict that the simple-sounding project would must have been a something wonderfully inventive.
The Fascinating Shoe Project
Liam then explained his idea in a very simple words. Liam shared that the project was making a shoe that ties its knot itself. Just imagine the convenience of automatically tying laces of shoes which is a concept given by a little young kid’s observation and imagination.
This small but brilliant idea reflects not just Liam’s curiosity but also his desire to solve everyday problems in a fun and creative manner.
The Moment of Victory
When asked how he felt upon winning the Young Scientist Award, Liam answered with a heartfelt, “Happy.”
It’s often said that behind every successful child is a supportive circle, and Liam confirmed this by naming his biggest supporters — “My friend Pen and Miss Esmer helped me.”
What he enjoyed the most about the entire experience? “Inventing!” he exclaimed.
Inspiration and Aspirations
On the topic of role models, Liam’s answer was refreshingly unique. Instead of naming a famous scientist, he said, “My friend.” It beautifully illustrates how inspiration for young children often comes from those closest to them.
We also asked about his future ambitions and goals. Everyone was amazed as Liam listed his diverse set of goals. “A scientist, an artist, a gardener, and a pilot”, this shows a pure reflection of a young little mind which is not overshadowed by limits, embracing both creativity in science and nature with adventure to go hands on hands.
A Message for Fellow Students
Towards the end of conversation, we asked that what advice would Liam give to other fellow students like him out there. His world were simple with a brief sentence but those meanings were a lot encouraging: “If you want it, you can do it. Just give it a try.”
Can you believe? This message was from a six year old little champ. This truly makes all of us realize that sometimes the purest form of wisdom comes from the youngest voices.
